KOO Design Language

Industrial Design
KOO has been one of our clients since 2019, and so far we’ve designed on 6 eyewear models with them. During the early stages we were exploring different directions for the form language, and there really was a lot to explore since the brand was new and had little or no eyewear heritage to speak of. We landed on a direction which can be expressed as quite complex linework made up of sharp and intersecting lines that continue across elements contrasted by clean and simple surfacing. Once we had established this framework we started applying it to the different user cases, widths, heights and face types, and in some cases also added colour splits to emphasise the lines. The fact that the mother company, KASK, also makes cycling helmets was also an advantage in terms of making these products match each others' shapes.
