About
1976, Norwegian
Torgny completed his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at NTNU Trondheim and later studied Transport Vehicle Design at Elisava, Barcelona. After graduating he worked as a junior designer at Mazda Design Studio in Frankfurt before moving on to Cannondale Bicycles, where he led the ID team for five years. In 2009 he went back to automotive and joined BMW Exterior Design in Munich where he later on became a Creative Director for Exterior Detail Design. In 2014 he joined BMC as Design Director, built an in-house design team and implemented a new design strategy for the brand. Five years later he left BMC to start his own little studio, which he still runs today. Despite his advanced age and role, Torgny still enjoys sketching and 3D modelling so he always tries to get in a few hours of hands-on creative time during his workday. Torgny got into cycling when the MTB wave hit back in the 80’s and the bicycle has been his main mode of transport all his life. These days he commutes to the studio by bike every day and rides mainly gravel and road in his spare time.
1999, Latvian
Ernests completed a Bachelors degree in transportation design from IED in Turin in 2020 a started working for Torgny back in 2021. Since then he has worked on a wide variety of projects and has developed into roles beyond ‘just’ surface modelling at the highest level. The more technical and complex the project, the more he can play to his strengths. Ernests often finds time in the evenings to mess around with designing suspension linkages and puzzling over small MTB parts. Outside of bicycles he is a car and motorcycle enthusiast and has spent his childhood karting before getting into mountain biking. You can find him in Basel commuting by bike everyday and on weekends riding bike parks or trails.
Javier Alberich
Freelance Graphic Design Partner
1972, Spanish
Javier graduated in Art and Design from the University of Seville and shortly after moved to Switzerland to join the design department of Cannondale Bicycles, where he met Torgny. At Cannondale he took on the role of Art Director, overseeing the graphic design strategy of the European branch, managing the design needs of the professional cycling teams and co-developing the international ad campaigns. He began his freelance career in 2006 and has since developed numerous projects in a wide range of sectors, from cycling, information technology, politics and life sciences to culture, art and education. His years of experience as part of the Cannondale marketing team and his detail-oriented graphic training provided a solid background to develop multiple successful branding projects. In Switzerland, he discovered that bicycles are the perfect means of urban transportation, and he has never needed a car since. He rides a self-assembled Cannondale single speed, for which the maintenance only consists of inflating the tires every second year.
